The date for this year's Sanur Village Festival is coming closer. Carrying a slogan “The New Spirit of Heritage” the festival will be a collaboration of cultural elements maintaining the rich heritage of Bali, yet combining various modern events and activities. Don't forget to mark down your agenda for 16-18 August 2007 so you don't miss out on all the fun and great prizes!

Care for a tee? The annual Sanur Open Golf Tournament in conjunction with Sanur Village Festival 2007, is schedule for August 17 - 18 at the Balibeach Golf Course. This event for golfers will be followed by a barbeque dinner and prize presentation and an evening of Balinese dance performances. The golf tournament offers spectacular prizes including Mazda 3 and Honda City, cash prize 100 million Rupiah for hole in one and attractive lucky draw prizes. So if you are a golfer, don't miss out to drive home a new car.

image_1 Underwater Festival
The Sanur Village Festival is also known for its underwater festival and competition. Underwater imaging is considered an exceptionally challenging area in photography, as it requires special equipments and techniques to become successful. The competition has attracted participants from local & international journalist & media, photographer associations, expatriates and tourists. Scheduled on 16 August the photography competition will require photographers to take pictures of a Kecak dance presented during sunrise, followed by photo shooting of young girls in the Balinese Legong Keraton costume walking along Sanur beach. The following day will be more challenging with underwater photo taking of the coral plantation. The theme imposed for this challenging task is “save the Sanur underwater”. During the closing ceremony of the festival, all the photos will be collected, exhibited and judged.

In this modern competitive era, keeping fit and living healthy has always been a choice to keep the mind, body and soul at ease and rejuvenated. Through a mass yoga event during the festival, approximately 1,500 participants will assemble at the beachfront of Inna Grand Bali Beach to follow yoga postures and movements from yoga gurus from all over Bali.

What is Sanur famous for if not its sandy white beaches. It would never be a great day out in Sanur if you don't indulge in the sun,sand, and surf and what better way than to play beach games. Beach day activity includes a Jukung (traditional Balinese fishing boat) Competition on 16 August and canoe competition on Saturday 18 August. Then for the mixture of modern water sports include the sailing competitions in catamaran and laser category. Four classes will be up for competition i.e. laser standard, laser 4.7, optimist men, optimist women. Don't miss the wind surfing and sailing competitions scheduled for on 17-19 August. In Bali there are definitely waves for everyone.

The kites carries unique traditional Balinese essence, with it's giant shapes and sizes. It is believed that before taking the kite to the air, a ritual ceremony to take place to ensure the kite can freely fly high in the sky. Some of the kites that you will be able to see are the "Janggan, Sanur Bebean, Pecukan and kites of modern creation. Something unique in this year event will be the night kites, which is a kite contest at night equiped with fireworks. The Sanur Kite Festival 2007 will not only presents the abilities of the kites in the air, but will also exhibits these kites along Sanur Beach with cultural activities combining art, music and sports to increase the festivals overall excitement.
