When traveling to a foreign destination such as Bali, it is always best to try the local cuisine that is distinctive to that specific location. For decades now Sanur has been famed as a host of specially cooked cuisine to entice the senses. Nowadays due to the influence of tourism in Sanur, most of the cuisine is cooked to suit the foreign taste bud, however not leaving behind the original recipe known to Balinese cuisine. A selection of international five star rated restaurants offers a dining experience like no other, but the traditional small Balinese food stalls still becomes the daily attraction for those who are more adventurous. Bali’s strong use of spices in every dish has been famed throughout. The culinary dishes traditional to Bali include the “Babi Guling” (Roast suckling pig), “lawar” (Mixed vegetables), “Sate” (meat skewers), and “Ayam Betutu” (Roast chicken meat wrapped in Banana Leaf) all of which can be simply found in Sanur. Another dish famous in Sanur is the fish, of which is caught daily, fresh and cooked to your liking.

To compliment dining, Sanur offers a unique traditional wine called “Arak” which is also found throughout the island of Bali. For those who enjoy a high intake of alcohol, must try this specific type of local wine. The production of Arak is also traditional, taken from the of the Nira tree (similar to the coconut tree) the wine is taken in a special way to maintain its unique taste and is kept for a certain period of time hidden for it to become a tasty glass of local beverage. Other alcoholic drinks are as simple to find, including the local Bintang Beer, wine, brandy, to even whisky.
