A Musical Opening
The opening ceremony will highlight one of Bali’s talented young artists Bona Alit. Presenting a special contemporary musical performance taken from his world music album, the strong Balinese nuance is still very much apparent in his soft musical melody. Gung Alit is well known for his new and contemporary music not withholding Balinese traditional elements as the basis of his melody.
Painting Exhibition
One week prior to the opening ceremony of the Sanur Village Festival, approximately 120 local and international artists will be invited to exhibit their works of art. Coordinated under the Sanur Painters Association (Himpunan Pelukis Sanur) 5 galleries have been registered as exhibition venues including Santrian Gallery, Guet Gallery, Rare Angon Gallery, 10 Art Gallery dan Darga Gallery. The community and visitors of the Festival can view the displayed artworks, dialogue with the artists and even purchase the paintings on exhibition.
Bonsai exhibition
For those with a green thumb or enjoy the uniqueness of bonsais and adeniums will enjoy the 100 Bonsais exhibiting various shapes and sizes from collectors from all over Bali. The exhibits will also be available for sale and a demo presenting on shaping and maintaining the bonsai will take place for those interested.Bonsai lovers can also enter the competition with their own bonsai. The venue will be alongside Bali beach grounds.
Jazz festival
The jazz festival will definitely attract spectators who enjoy this soothing type of music. On August 18th from 2pm until 11 pm at the main stage, a jazz festival will feature top Indonesian jazz artists Budjana & Trie Utami from Nyanyian Dharma (spiritual world music), Balawan & Batuan Etnik, Saharadja (world Jazz), and Tropical Transit (Jazz World).
Parade
On August 19th, to highlight the closing ceremony will be a cultural parade involving members from the tourism industry, the community and the government officials of Denpasar. The spectacular parade will showcase carts complete with foreign passengers presented by hotels within Sanur and a parade of unique Balinese costumes featuring pepayasan, payas agung, gayotan for children, baris cina, and wayang wong (puppets). The procession will take place along the Sanur area.
